A recent client of mine inspired me to write this post. She had many different hats and needed ideas how to store them best for her needs. So here are 9 unique display and storage ideas for the hat lovers amongst you! (Also, here’s an overview of all the linked storage products below, and more! *)
Cord
On a wall, attach one or more cords – depending on how many hats you have. Then, you affix the hats to the cord with a wooden clothespin. (Shop: string cord // clothespins)
Wire-Mesh
This one requires you to attach a piece of wire grid to the wall. Then again (just like in the cord example above), all it takes are a few clothespins or other clips to attach your hats onto the grid. (Shop: wire grid // clothespins)
Zig-Zag Wall Rack
This is a beautiful example of a wall-mounted hat rack. It’s not only practical but also decorative. Check out how to make it here. (or shop similar finished product here or here)
Wall Clothespins
You can also attach clothespins directly to the wall as shown in this example. Make sure to measure and space out the pins before attaching them to the wall in order to assure that all your hats have the space they need. (Shop: clothespins // magic sticky tape)
Hooks
For a cleaner look, attach hooks on the wall where your hats can rest after usage and serve as a decorative “hat gallery” as well. Pick a place in your home that is both decorative AND easily reachable. (Shop: hooks – option 1 // hooks – option 2)
Wall Rod
Attach a rod close by a wall leaving a little gap. Now you can easily slip your hats’ brims in the gap and have them strung and ready to go at all times. (Shop: rod – option 1 // rod – option 2)
Painted Branch
Paint a branch and affix it to your wall. Ideally, the branch has enough sturdy twigs to hold your hats. Otherwise, you can use clips, cords or ties to attach your hats to the branch. (Shop: branch – option 1 // branch – option 2)
Stacking
If your hats are sturdy enough, just stack them up and display on a shelf, counter or tray. Or, you can stack them on a mannequin’s head like it is shown in this apartment tour here!
Boxes
Another more traditional storage method would be to store your hats in hat boxes. This makes especially sense if your hats are of delicate nature and/or you don’t wear them on a regular basis. Pretty hat boxes add a nice decorative element. For instance, you can stack up your boxes and display them in a corner of your home. (Shop: hat box – option 1 // hat box – option 2)
