Tidying up your home once and for all is not just about aesthetics. It’s not about having an orderly and clutter-free home (although that’s certainly a benefit in and of itself). It’s much more than that. Decluttering and organizing according to the KonMari Method™ can have a positive impact on various areas of your life. In the following, I will touch upon a few important ones.
Mental Health
If you free yourself from physical clutter, you simultaneously declutter your mind space as well. People often find that after decluttering and organizing their home their stress levels decrease or their anxiety eases, for instance.
Time Management
You save time because you don’t have to look for things anymore (Did you know that on average we wast 1 hour per day looking for things we’re unable to find?). You know exactly where everything is and stop wasting precious time. Also, you spend less time worrying about and maintaining your belongings. Overall, you’ll have more time to do the things you really care about.
Productivity
You will be less occupied and distracted with clutter visually and mentally. Therefore, your ability to focus and concentrate will increase. This, in turn, will lead you to getting more done in a shorter amount of time.
Finances
You can make money by finding cash, gift cards or undeposited checks during the tidying process (trust me, I’ve seen this multiple times). You can also earn money by selling things you want to get rid of. In addition, you can cut expenses by no longer having to rent out expensive storage space anymore and/or by avoiding fees for paying late.
Having fewer belongings overall equals fewer maintenance costs. You can save money by not buying doubles anymore because you know exactly what you have in your home and can easily check before you go shopping. You’ll also become a more conscious buyer after completing your tidying festival. And, to top it all off, you can invest AALLL this saved money into a savings/investment account and make even more money.
Physical Health
Having a tidy home makes for easier cleaning and less dirt and dust build-up, which can be the environment for germs and pests. You’ll have more time for exercise and more time and money to shop for healthy foods and cook healthy homemade meals.
Overall, having a tidy home enables and supports you to live your best life – the life you want and deserve to live!
